St Bert’s at Christmas…

The last of the Christmas orders are out and we are getting into the swing of the festivities! We are looking forward to a few days with our nearest and dearest and here are a few of our St Bert’s family traditions …

Yesterday we visited Santa’s Grotto at Ruxley Manor Garden Centre …’s owned by our good friend Andrew and is honestly the best Grotto in the UK! At the end of the walk through the Grotto, presents come flying down the chimney and Father Christmas is as real as they come. It has a big ice skating rink, real reindeer and is an annual treat that we look forward to every year. We’ve been going for the last 6 years since our oldest, Tallulah was 3…

On Christmas Eve we’ll go to Newick Church and then go home and eat fondue – we are mad about Fondue and would have it every night if we could – meat and cheese and thousands of dips and pickles!

This year we have two sets of friends coming for Christmas Day and we’ve asked them to come with their Christmas traditions  too….

So with a full house on Christmas morning after stockings have ben opened (we’re hoping for post 5am!) we’ll be having Smoked Oysters on Crostini for breakfast, then we will all play a game of tennis before opening presents from under the tree with a Bloody Mary in hand for the adults and sparkling apple for the kids!

Starting the prep with bread sauce

We will of course listen to the Queens speech and then tuck into lunch with a starter of Seafood Platter followed by Roast Turkey with all the trimmings.
After lunch there will be a wonderful variety show put on by the children,  there will be singing, poetry and dancing, we can’t wait!
Then the games commence – Perudo, Backgammon and Charades followed by a Treasure Hunt around the garden.

Bella in her Christmas best!

For Boxing Day breakfast we’ll be having fried Christmas Pudding with Bacon (this is one of our friend’s traditions – we will let you know how that one goes!) afterwards we will all go for a long walk with Bella the cockapoo (the St. Bert’s family dog )in the Ashdown Forest.

Keep following us here for more festivities from the world of St Bert’s!

We want to wish all of our wonderful St Bert’s customers and followers a very  Merry Christmas !
